For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:38-39 (ESV)
Thus says the One who is high and lifted up,
who inhabits eternity, and whose name is Holy:
“I dwell in the high and holy place,
but also in him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit,
to revive the spirit of the lowly,
and to revive the heart of the contrite.
I’ve been reminded recently that I really don’t have enough of the Word of God in my heart. So last week I committed to memory 5 verses, and I wanted to write them down somewhere so I wouldn’t forget what I worked on.
“Therefore, I urge you brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to Him — this is your spiritual act of worship.”
– Romans 12:1
“Because He Himself suffered when He was tempted, He is able to help those who are being tempted.”
“For Christ died for sins, once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring us to God. He was put to death in the flesh but made alive in the Spirit.”
1 Peter 3:18
“Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”
1 Corinthians 15:58
“I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.”
For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. – 2 Timothy 1:7 (ESV)
I confess that I have great fear of conflict, hardship, and sacrifice. And this fear has made me less diligent, and it has minimized my worship of you. But through your Spirit you have spoken to me, and reminded me that rather than the absence of those things, it is in the triumph over them where your glory and power shines brightest. Give me a heart of obedience and of worship. Help me never forget to worship and praise you, knowing by faith that when I do, your Spirit and power falls fresh upon me.
In Jesus’ name,
Come, let us return to the Lord;
for he has torn us, that he may heal us;
he has struck us down, and he will bind us up.
After two days he will revive us
on the third day he will raise us up,
that we may live before him.
Let us know; let us press on to know the Lord;
his going out is sure as the dawn;
he will come to us as the showers,
as the spring rains that water the earth.
